Georgetown Soccer Family,

To say that our 3-1 win over #1 UCLA last Monday afternoon was a team effort is an understatement. What does a team effort look like? A sellout crowd at Shaw Field with close to 1,000 students lining the field to give a postseason energy to the game. Trainer Matt Kingsbury working to find a way to get senior defenders Cole Seiler and Josh Turnley on the field when injuries looked to almost certainly keep them on the sideline, even up to the beginning of warm up. A total of seventeen field players contributed to the effort over the 90 minutes, including a rotating defensive corp to help fill the void left by a still injured Joshua Yaro. We had a balanced attack featuring two goals by junior Brett Campbell, a goal by sophomore Arun Basuljevic, two assists by senior Brandon Allen, and helpers from senior Keegan Rosenberry and junior Alex Muyl. Highlights to the game can be found here.
It was a wonderful response to the disappointing performance in our 1-0 loss to a good Akron team just a few days earlier. We have posted a thank you tribute to our Hoya Hooligans, who have been simply awesome, which can be seen here.

Up next, we have an undefeated Radford team visiting the Hilltop on Saturday, who are very good at what they do.

I’ll let you know how things go against Radford (if you can’t attend in person, be sure to log-on to the live webscast), and, in the meantime, Go Hoyas!
