Rob SgarlataI hope you are having a great week.  Just prior to Easter, we completed spring practice and had our spring game and banquet.  One of the main goals of spring practice was to become tougher both mentally and physically.  We started practice with a SISU drill, which quickly became a favorite of the players (video here).

Jo’el Kimpela was selected to represent the #35 Joe Eacobacci Memorial Jersey for the 2015 season (video here).  I know Jo’el will continue to represent the standard of excellence exhibited by the past recipients.  An article detailing all of the award winners can be found here. Currently, our players are preparing for finals.  We are conducting our end of the year testing and Superstars Competition this week.

Last week I was fortunate to travel to Los Angeles for the John Carroll Awards.  The best part of the week was visiting with our alums and updating them on the program.  I was able to tour Janne Kouri’s NextStep facility (view details here).  I was also able to speak to Joe Piscatella about his award winning documentary “#ChicagoGirl” (view details here).  I am amazed the see the personification of our core principles of “4 for 40”, SISU, and Men for Others in both Janne and Joe through their respective work.

Next week I will be traveling north to visit with our New York alums.  I will be holding a reception on Tuesday, April 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse (view location here).  It will be a great opportunity to catch up with former teammates and get an update on the program.

The cost for an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres will be $100.  Cash is preferred.  The space is limited, so please let me know if you can attend as soon as possible.  Please RSVP to me via email at rob.sgarlata@georgetown.edu.

For those of you in the New York area, I am looking forward to seeing you.  As always, if you are on campus, please stop by the offices.
