Back To Work!

February 6th, 2015

We welcomed our student-athletes back for the spring on Monday, January 12, and since then, they’ve been hard at work before the sun rises, conditioning and lifting three days a week. Over the last month, there’s been an emphasis placed on proper running mechanics, footwork, change of direction and explosiveness out of the blocks. As a staff, we’ve already noticed gains in each category and have enjoyed watching our team progress. Continue reading

Welcome Back Alumni

Friday’s match is also our Alumni Game. We look forward to honoring the former Hoya Field Hockey players who have contributed to our program over the years. I look forward to seeing many of you at the match and if I haven’t had the opportunity to meet you in person, I very much look forward to doing so after the game.

Back at Home

October 7th, 2014

We will hit this week hard in preparation for a pair of home matches against another tough BIG EAST opponent in Providence and a non-conference opponent in St. Joseph’s. Sunday’s match will be our “Play for a Cure” game honoring the special women in our lives that have fought breast cancer. If you happen to be in the area, we’d love to see you at MSF at noon to show your support.

Heading on the Road

September 23rd, 2014

Monday is considered our “off” day. A day in which our student-athletes finally get the chance to sleep in, rest their bodies and catch up on school work. While Monday’s are technically our day of rest, they give me the chance to come into the office and reflect on the past weekend and turn my attention to the week ahead. Continue reading

Building A Winning Culture

September 16th, 2014

As we go through this season, it’s important to remember that this is a process. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the same goes for Georgetown Field Hockey. However, it’s critical that our players understand just how talented they are and actually believe it. There’s a culture that goes along with winning, an identity that takes ownership of and creates its own momentum. As a staff, we will continue to expect more of ourselves and want more for our student-athletes. Continue reading

Home on the Hilltop

September 9th, 2014

We were fortunate enough to play our first HOME match in seven years on the Hilltop and for the first time ever, our current student-athletes were able to walk out of their locker room and onto their own field. While this is something that may seem simple to most, we are very appreciative of the support from our administration and grateful to our support staff for their help in bringing us back home. Continue reading

Taking Steps Forward

September 2nd, 2014

In the 2013 season, Georgetown scored a total of 14 goals. This weekend, of our seven goals scored, five different student-athletes found the back of the cage. We are stressing the importance of having a relentless mentality in our attacking circle, fighting to keep the ball inside of the circle and FINISHING. Continue reading
