Jo’el Kimpela was selected as the 12th Joe Eacobacci No. 35 Memorial Jersey recipient in the spring leading into his senior year. Eacobacci’s No. 35 has been given to a student-athlete who best embodies his spirit and memory after he was lost on September 11, 2001. A Second Team All-Patrior League honoree, Jo’el has been a fixture in the backfield since arriving on campus in 2012. This season, he is averaging over 71 yards per game and 4.9 yards per carry. Georgetown Athletics Annual Fund
After being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2014, Arun has followed up with a superb sophomore year as the Hoyas went a perfect 9-0 to win the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. The midfielder was Georgetown’s second-leading scorer in conference play with two goals and two assists to his credit for six points as well as two games winners. We are just one week away from the start of the season! In this newsletter, we share a few reflections from our preseason events and preview some of the fun events the Hoya Hoop Club has in store for this season. Hoya fans have 31 opportunities to see the Hoyas play in the regular season this year, including 17 at home in the Verizon Center. Georgetown sophomore women’s soccer player Rachel Corboz was named the BIG EAST Conference Midfielder of the Year on Tuesday, November 3. Rachel leads Georgetown in scoring with 28 points, leading the team with 10 goals and eight assists. She is third in the BIG EAST in points scored, tied for third in goals and tied for second in assists. The Hoyas finished the regular season with an 11-5-2 overall record and a 6-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST, earning the No. 2 seed in this week’s postseason tournament.
