We played hard against St. John’s at our place earlier this year and defeated Providence. It’s been a while since we had two wins in a weekend. Listening to the players talk and watching them get after it at practice demonstrate how hungry they are for a weekend sweep. If you are near Queens or Providence, we hope that you’ll come out and lend us your voices. Continue reading →
A huge thank you to the Brauneis’ for preparing an awesome pre-game meal for us prior to our match against DePaul. More than that, we also had some Georgetown alumnae in the stands, Kirin Gil and Meg (Troller) Hudak, who helped cheer us to victory. It is our plan to build on this win as we move on to our next matches. We are at Villanova and Seton Hall this weekend, two teams with whom we consistently battle. Continue reading →
Only a freshman, Terese Cannon has already made her mark on the 2014 Georgetown Volleyball team. Cannon is currently leading the team in kills with 156, averaging 2.89 per set. She also is second on the team in points, with 73.5 and has 27 assisted blocks on the year. Cannon comes to Georgetown as a two-time nominee for the New York Gatorade Player of the Year, and was named a National High School Junior of the Year finalist as well as to the All-American First Team in 2012. Let’s go In the Huddle with Terese Cannon! Continue reading →

Against Yale, we learned how good it feels to win in such a large margin (25-11 in set 1), but we must be able to step up our play when someone pushes back. In the record books, this weekend goes down as a loss, but in the grand scheme of what we are trying to do as a team and a program in BIG EAST play, we had some success. Of course, I would have liked a “W.” We’re working on making those happen. Continue reading →
The players worked hard during pre-season with Dr. Mike Lorenzen, our Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Leadership and Development. In that time, they came up with their mission and what they wanted the season to look like. Of course it falls in line with who we are as Georgetown Volleyball that we work hard and are a competitive team that leaves it all on the floor. We’re seeing that every day at practice from everyone in our gym. Coaches talk about buy in and this group has bought in! Continue reading →
The victories on Saturday meant that we were the 2014 Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West Invitational champions! Lauren Saar was named the tournament MVP and Danielle White joined her on the All-Tournament Team. However, the awards should go to everyone in the group. Without all of our players pushing each other in practice daily and supporting each other when the going gets tough, we would not have the success that we have had. Continue reading →
The players reported for pre-season on August 8 after a busy summer. Eight of our 11 returners participated in summer internship programs, gaining valuable experience for life after Georgetown. That’s no surprise after the work they do in the classroom, earning a 3.508 team GPA. For the sixth time in eight years, we received the AVCA Academic Team Award recognizing teams that have a team GPA of 3.3 or higher across the academic year. In addition, for the second year running, we received the BIG EAST Conference Team Excellence Award in the Sport of Volleyball for our work in the classroom. We set the bar high and it’s so much fun to watch us surpass our goals. Continue reading →

I cannot believe that half the season has already breezed by. It’s been a fun, exciting, frustrating, energizing, did I say fun, couple of months. We have an amazing group of young women and our newcomers fit right in with the returners. We have a tight knit group who genuinely care about each other as they work to move our program forward. And work they do. Continue reading →
