Brian Wiese Head ShotGeorgetown Soccer Family,

Reflecting on this past year, I have nothing but positive memories here on the Hilltop. Seeing how far the team came from the opening weekend of the season to our final game in the NCAA Sweet 16, was supremely satisfying. In all candor, with how green we looked that opening weekend in California and how hard our schedule was laid out, I wasn’t sure if we would finish above .500. The fact that we ended with a 14-5-2 record, won the Big East regular season title and earned the #6 overall seed for the NCAA tournament was a real tribute to the players and to the senior leadership in particular. It was a real pleasure to coach this group.

The end of year honors came in as the post season drew to a close, and we are proud of each and every player for their individual awards as well as their teammates, who were every bit a part of them:

Steve Neumann: 2nd Team NSCAA All-American; 1st Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region, MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist; adidas MLS Comine invitee; Big East Offensive Player of the Year

Brandon Allen: 2nd Team NSCAA All-American; 1st Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region

Joey Dillon: adidas MLS Comine invitee; Big East Midfielder of the Year

Tomas Gomez: 2nd Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region; Big East Goalkeeper of the Year

Joshua Yaro: 2nd Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region

Losing our senior class, and Steve and Joey to graduation and hopefully long careers in the professional soccer ranks, will provide a new set of challenges for the 2014 season. Compounding matters is the fact that our 2014 schedule features thirteen teams that played in the 2013 NCAA tournament, including opening the season in Bloomington, Indiana against the 2012 NCAA champion Hoosiers and the 2013 NCAA champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish. I have every confidence that the boys will be ready for the challenges that await them.

We continue to rely on your generosity to run the best program we can, and with the 2013 tax year coming to a quick close, I hope you will consider a gift to Georgetown Soccer. To give a tax deductible gift go to: GIVE TO GEORGETOWN SOCCER

To all the Georgetown Soccer family, friends, and Hoyas everywhere – Happy Holidays!
