Alexa Popowitz has had a strong start to her sophomore year, named co-BIG EAST Golfer of the Week with teammate Christina Parsells after a strong showing at the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate. As a freshman, Alexa had five top-20 finishes and a 77.60 stroke average leading her to being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection. Kaleb Johnson enters his sophomore year after appearing in all 33 games and becoming a valuable reserve in his first season, highlighted with his 14 points and four rebounds against Duke. Kaleb has also been active in the community with his teammates including participating in HoyaMed Summer Sports Camp, a camp held for homeless children organized by Georgetown University Medical Students. As a senior, Rachel Skonecki has made her presence felt as a netminder through her career on the Hilltop. Rachel is ranked second in the BIG EAST and seventh in Division I in saves per game, has posted 10 or more saves in a game four times this season and 14 times in her career.
With the Hoyas win over Longwood, Skonecki moved into fourth place in school history with her 18th career victory, tying her with Mary Allys Heeg (1982-84). Skonecki is also ranked in the top five in saves, save percentage and shutouts. Let’s go In the Huddle with Rachel! Continue reading →
