Cole Seiler has been a staple of Georgetown’s defense, making a start in 45 games already leading into his junior year. In 2013, Seiler scored two goals, including the game winner against Old Dominion, for four points on the season. He also was part of a defense that led the nation in shutout percentage (0.67). Seiler has excelled off the field as well, earning BIG EAST All-Academic honors in 2013-14. Continue reading →

The Hoyas went low last Wednesday at the Golfweek Conference Challenge held in Vail, CO. The team beat the previous school record by 6 shots with a score of 289. The total was good for a tie for the 7th best round of any team in the entire event. The 1-over par total was made possible by the team making four birdies in their final two holes. We opened up BIG EAST play on Saturday against a quality Butler Bulldog team in Indianapolis, and came away with a 2-0 win. The Butler Bowl isn’t an easy place to play, but the boys settled into the game nicely after about fifteen minutes. Freshman Arun Basuljevic made his first start of the season, and did a great job alongside senior Tyler Rudy to control the tempo of the game in the middle of the park. Despite a 21 to seven shot advantage, and a lot of blocked shots, the score remained tied at 0-0 going into the last fifteen minutes of the match. Continue reading →
On the ride back to the Hilltop, I texted the entire team and coaching staff. My message was simple. If we play Hoya Football we can beat any team on our schedule. Attention to detail is a key aspect to playing Hoya Football. We want to be known as a detail oriented, tough football team. One sequence I highlighted to the team focused on the end of the first half. We had a punt blocked for a touchdown with just under four minutes left in the second quarter. The following series the offense had a negative play on first down and we went three and out. This placed the defense back on the field. We then allowed Colgate’s quarterback to run for a touchdown to end the half. Continue reading →
Friday, September 12, 2014 was a historic day for Georgetown Basketball as the Hoya family celebrated the groundbreaking of the Thompson Center. The celebration kicked off with the 2014-2015 Hoyas assembled at the site of what will be the Thompson Center along with many Hoya greats that came before them. The energy and excitement was evident as everyone took their seats to wait to hear from those who have made and are still making our program such a great success. Continue reading →
Senior defensive end Alec May was named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Defensive Lineman of the Week on Tuesday, September 23 when weekly awards were announced. The honor follow the Georgetown University football team’s 17-3 victory over Brown University on Saturday, September 20. It was the Hoyas first victory against the Bears in program history and its first home victory over an Ivy League opponent. Let’s go In the Huddle with Alec May! Continue reading →

It was a weekend of firsts. It is the first time the Hoyas have defeated an Ivy League opponent on the Hilltop. It was also the first time the Hoyas have defeated Brown University. It was appropriate that we had the first Hoya Football team in modern-day history, the Class of 1964, on campus to witness these firsts. Continue reading →
This past weekend, we only had one game and came away with a 2-0 win over a dogged Duquesne team. This was the last of our non-conference games and we finished that slate of games with a 5-2-2 record. To be fair, it is kind of where I expected us to be right now. Our non-conference schedule was rigorous with some tough games, but also had the added challenge of playing six of those away from the confines of Shaw Field. Continue reading →
I told the team last week that soccer wasn’t a beauty contest, and they took it to heart by finding a way to win ugly. In fairness, William & Mary came in very organized and worked hard all game long. They did a good job in minimizing the impact of our attacking players, and made it hard for us to play through them. The hot day and the illness that has been running riot through our team took its toll on us, and it was the first day this year that we didn’t have our legs under us. Continue reading →
Monday is considered our “off” day. A day in which our student-athletes finally get the chance to sleep in, rest their bodies and catch up on school work. While Monday’s are technically our day of rest, they give me the chance to come into the office and reflect on the past weekend and turn my attention to the week ahead. Continue reading →
