Georgetown Track & Field shined at Distance Night at Penn Relays as senior Jonathan Green won the men’s 10,000-meter run! Green, an All-American in the 10,000-meter run, became the first Hoya to win the 10,000-meter title, the 30th installment of the event at Penn Relays, dating back to 1978. Junior All-American Joe White continues to garner accolades this season, breaking a school record in the men’s 800-meter indoor run and winning a BIG EAST Indoor Championship as a member of the Georgetown 4×400-meter relay team. After being named All-BIG EAST Second Team and to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team, Dionna White has continued her success as a sophomore earning her second straight selection to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Dionna leads the team scoring 15 points per game, while on the defensive end leading the team with 89 steals as the Hoyas finished the regular season with a 17-11 record. Georgetown Men’s Lacrosse junior Matt Behrens’ impact extends well beyond the lacrosse field – twice named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and is a member of the Patrick Healy Fellowship, promoting diversity on campus. Georgetown Women’s Soccer won its first-ever BIG EAST Tournament title with a 2-0 win over Marquette this season. Junior Liz Wenger has been an integral part in its championship season and the junior was named All-BIG EAST Second Team for the second-straight year. Liz also leads the team in minutes played and was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week twice during the season. Let’s go In the Huddle with Liz!

Senior captain Bakie Goodman has been a four-year presence for the Hoyas with 69 starts in 78 games played over his career on the Hilltop. Bakie has amassed seven goals, 12 assists and 26 points as a midfielder and will play his final regular season game at Shaw Field on Senior Day vs. Villanova. Alexa Popowitz has had a strong start to her sophomore year, named co-BIG EAST Golfer of the Week with teammate Christina Parsells after a strong showing at the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate. As a freshman, Alexa had five top-20 finishes and a 77.60 stroke average leading her to being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection. Kaleb Johnson enters his sophomore year after appearing in all 33 games and becoming a valuable reserve in his first season, highlighted with his 14 points and four rebounds against Duke. Kaleb has also been active in the community with his teammates including participating in HoyaMed Summer Sports Camp, a camp held for homeless children organized by Georgetown University Medical Students. As a senior, Rachel Skonecki has made her presence felt as a netminder through her career on the Hilltop. Rachel is ranked second in the BIG EAST and seventh in Division I in saves per game, has posted 10 or more saves in a game four times this season and 14 times in her career.
With the Hoyas win over Longwood, Skonecki moved into fourth place in school history with her 18th career victory, tying her with Mary Allys Heeg (1982-84). Skonecki is also ranked in the top five in saves, save percentage and shutouts. Let’s go In the Huddle with Rachel! Continue reading
