With Sam Madsen leading the way, the Georgetown University men’s golf team captured its first BIG EAST Championship since 2010! Just a sophomore, Sam finished second overall at the championship, after finishing ninth overall as a freshman, and joined three other Hoyas finishing in the tournament’s individual top 10. Jo’el Kimpela was selected as the 12th Joe Eacobacci No. 35 Memorial Jersey recipient in the spring leading into his senior year. Eacobacci’s No. 35 has been given to a student-athlete who best embodies his spirit and memory after he was lost on September 11, 2001. A Second Team All-Patrior League honoree, Jo’el has been a fixture in the backfield since arriving on campus in 2012. This season, he is averaging over 71 yards per game and 4.9 yards per carry. After being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2014, Arun has followed up with a superb sophomore year as the Hoyas went a perfect 9-0 to win the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. The midfielder was Georgetown’s second-leading scorer in conference play with two goals and two assists to his credit for six points as well as two games winners.
